All the paintings incorporate significant use of texture. I want the marks and imprints to be on an equal footing with illusion and meaning. The painted lines in the recent work are in fact patches of paint laid toe to heel. Taking them around and around the box is what determines the image, which cannot be fully revealed until the box is opened out. Starting points for the work vary from boxes and domes that are collapsed, to sieves that collect, to maps that are built on.
